MCP integration — Anthropic's Model Context Protocol gives clean hooks into databases, APIs, internal services. Competitors are racing to match.
Voice of the dev community — Anthropic aggressively courts dev creators on X, YouTube, Reddit. Karpathy's move amplifies that 10×.
Why the Karpathy move matters
Karpathy is unique. He co-founded OpenAI, ran Tesla's autopilot AI for 5 years, returned to OpenAI for 18 months in 2023-2024, then went independent. For two years he stayed neutral — independent research, YouTube tutorials, occasional consulting.
Joining Anthropic ends the neutrality. The most credible voice in AI just told the market what he thinks. Talent doesn't move to companies whose core products it doesn't believe in.
